Artist Statement
My artwork speaks more than I do.
My artwork is inspired by both my lived experiences and my dreams, and often depicts moments caught between these states of being. I believe my emotions and dreams represent my identity as much as my outer self, and I use art as a way to share this otherwise hidden dimension. In these works, Symbolism and Surrealism are layered with the mundane aspects of my life.
A recent series of ink and watercolor drawings depict my descent into sleep and incorporate vivid details, settings, and characters pulled directly from my dreams. In these drawings I explore the beauty of madness and the world of possibility that exists in darkness. I think of my artwork as a puzzle of my interior and exterior existence.
My goal is to generate emotions and empathy in the viewer and make them question the line between fantasy and reality as they get lost in each of them.
